Kek Lok Si Temple & Monastery - Penang

Penang Island has again been voted as the best and most lovely
place to live, retire or just have a good vacation.
If you love plenty of sunshine, good & cheap food
with lots of interesting historical sites.

Visit Penang Today!

This beautiful temple & monastery sits on the hill slopes
of Ayer Itam which is always a bustling village.
All the photographs were kindly provided by
Dato' Seri Joey Lai who spent his growing up years
living in that area. His family home overlooks this
pretty sight of colourful lights and the monastery at night.

This place will be lighted up on selected auspicious occasions
and festive seasons.

They looked like a fairyland at night and tourists loved
to walk about, snapping photographs.

There are many little stalls selling prayer items like
fresh flowers and fruits as offerings nearby the
monastery.

These fruit stalls belong to the family members of
Dato' Seri Joey Lai who have been in this trade
for almost a century since the days of their parents.

You can see a variety of fruits here like bananas, lime kumquat,
dragon fruits and many others.

Fresh Pineapples are very popular with worshipers.

Many thanks to this contributor Dato' Seri Joey Lai.
